Training

Our strengths-based training workshops are designed to be highly experiential and to value the knowledge and stories participants bring from their own practice. We aim to clearly define and demonstrate skills and practice maps by sharing stories of our own work. We establish a creative learning environment so that participants can “try out” these skills in exercises and explore applications to their own varied work contexts.

Strengths-based approaches are those which are developing principles, ideas and processes for:

  • Being fair and respectful – putting the values of respect and social justice into action;
  • Focussing on strengths and resources – enabling people to identify, step into and further embrace personal, cultural and community strengths; and
  • Facilitating client-directed change – assisting people to make changes that are meaningful and significant to them and reflect how they want their lives to be.

Fees

Fees for in-house workshops are $143 per day, inclusive of GST. This fee includes all materials, lunches and morning & afternoon teas. We welcome requests to provide our workshops at your centre or for your team, or to tailor brand new workshops to the learning needs of your staff. Fees for these workshops are $1760 per day or $220.00 per hour, inclusive of GST, (for one facilitator) for up to 20 participants. We can travel anywhere throughout Australia. Travel and accommodation costs would be in addition to normal fees negotiated.

Location

In-house workshops are held in the Lighthouse Resources training room at Kyabra Community Association, Kyabra Street, Runcorn on the southside of Brisbane. The workshops usually run from 9.30am to 4.30pm on each of the days unless otherwise stated on the registration form.

Each 2009 calendar workshop is an Approved AASW Activity and attracts 2 CPE Credit Points per learning hour.
