Sometimes I Feel: How to Help Your Children Manage Difficult Feelings

This book contains expressive photos of children experiencing a range of feelings that come to visit them.  Ranging from sad, angry, shy and worried feelings each picture is accompanied by an easy to read description that shares when this feeling might come along and later offers some strategies that children can use to take control of their feelings and actions.

  • Sometimes I feel angry.
  • I feel angry when someone says, "You can't do that" especially when I really want to do it.
  • So what can I do to make the angry feelings go away?

At the end of each feeling type section the author offers some suggestion to help children recognise and manage these feelings.

    The Brain that Changes Itself

    by Norman Doidge

An astonishing new science called neuroplasticity is overthrowing the centuries-old notion that the human brain is immutable. Psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Norman Doidge, travelled around the US to meet both the brilliant scientists championing neuroplasticity and the people whose lives they've transformed - people whose mental limitations or brain damage were seen as unalterable. We see a woman born with half a brain that rewired itself to work as a whole, blind people who learn to see, learning disorders cured, IQs raised, aging brains rejuvenated, stroke patients learning to speak,...
